I love the versatility of brownies; they are easy to make for a crowd and so easy to change and modify. I love experimenting with different flavors and mix-ins. The best part is you can use your favorite recipe, or a boxed mix.

For MIT bridge club’s annual meeting, I was inspired by a raspberry swirl recipe. I added ½ a jar of seedless raspberry jam, replaced the vanilla extract with almond and tossed almonds on top. If I had chambord, or another raspberry liquor, I would have added 1 tsp or 2 in.

The brownies turned out particularly well – the flavors really worked well together. I think this combo is a keeper.
