I had packed a lovely meal of leftovers, but in my haste, I ran out the door and was in need of lunch. I decided to take this opportunity to try Canteen, a sandwich and crepe shop that “focuses on healthy dishes using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients!” (According to their website). I had the Canteen BLT, which in addition to the bacon, lettuce and tomato had avocado and a fried egg on an Iggy’s ciabatta roll. Delicious! I loved the creaminess of the avocado and yolk against the bacon and the kick from the cherry pepper mayo. Kathy declared the roast beef “the best sandwich I ever had.” The sandwiches and salads were well liked by all, so Canteen will go in to the lunch rotation.
The service is somewhat slow, and prices are high, but reasonable for the quality of the ingredients.
