Flat Patties, Cambridge

Burgers are a serious matter. I’ve been a long time fan of Bartley’s and R.F O’Sullivan’s is a solid contender. But a meal at either of these places results in the need for a nap; food coma induced by a big, thick, heavy juicy burger. Flat Patties serves a West Coast style burger popularized by the famous In-N-Out – thin, flat patties cooked on a griddle.
Flat Patties prices are a breath of fresh air in era when restaurants are hawking their “gourmet burgers” for upwards of $21. A single burger is $4 and a double cheeseburger is $6.75.
I had a bacon cheeseburger and shared cheese fries and onion rings with Amy. The fries were greasy and topped with cheddar cheese that chose to adhere to itself, not the fries. The onion rings were less greasy and were nice and crispy. My burger was quite good; I liked the ability to take a bite without having unhinging my jaw. It’s the closest thing to an In-N-Out burger I’ve on this coast and that’s something to celebrate.
