The Whip Bar and Grill, Stowe VT

Steve and I rang in the New Year in Stowe, VT. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and were in need of food and a place to watch the Patriots game; The Whip at the Green Mountain Inn fit the bill nicely. I ordered the mussels ($11) and although they were not as plump and briny as Kirkland’s, they were served in the exact way mussels should be served - in a large shallow bowl, with toasted baguette slices and a large spoon. They were steamed in a simple white wine, garlic and thyme broth. Steve ordered the tri-tip steak ($16) and it was cooked correctly. My favorite part of the meal was the complimentary warm honey oatmeal bread and maple butter. We consumed 2 (small) loaves. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great (after all, he offered us a second loaf of the delicious bread).

Here is a view of Stowe from the living room picture window.
