Barney Greengrass, NYC

I had to go to New York for the day for work and there was no way I was leaving the city without some of my favorite foods. Barney Greengrass is on the upper west side and is celebrating 100 years of smoked fish goodness. When I was in college, we would go there whenever R would come for a visit and everything on the menu is great. I had the smoked rainbow trout and my dining companion ordered the Nova Scotia salmon. The first bite of my toasted everything bagel with cream cheese, topped with trout, tomato, onion and olives was sublime. I miss NY.


After lunch, I stopped by H&H bagels to get a dozen to bring home and Zabar’s to get R’s favorite cherry cheese strudel. If I could have gone to Peter Luger for dinner, my day would have been perfect.
