Christine and I were able to walk in at 8 o'clock on a Friday night and be seated almost immediately. They specialize in burgers, offering over a dozen different choices including different meats (turkey, chicken, pork, veal, veggies). They state that the meat is “Ground, In-House, Twice Daily. No Antibiotics, No Hormones, All Vegetarian Diet, Never Frozen, Always USA Source Verified,” Hysterically enough, they have one burger called the big mini which is "a big version of our mini burgers.” I’m still trying to decide if it is ironic or moronic.
I ordered the West Coast which came with a fried egg, avocado and kalamata olive mayo. The doneness choices are either “some pink” or “no pink”, taking out the gradations of rare to well-done. I suppose you could game the system by telling them you wanted it light pink versus dark pink.
Given all the delicious toppings on my burger it was surprisingly lacking in flavor. The beef was decent, but my egg was overcooked, the aforementioned mayo was barely detectable. I didn't like the choice of roll.
We got green fries, which is just another way of saying green beans. The tater tots were perfect – crispy cylinders, with the perfect ratio of crunchy outside to potato goodness inside. It was instant time traveling back to the school cafeteria in eighth-grade. We also got the Parmesan fries, which were drizzled with olive oil and Parmesan. Again, there was a surprising lack of in flavor given the generous dusting of cheese.
The prices were reasonable, and I appreciate that your burger comes with the choice of one side. Nothing I hate more than à la carte burgers.
