When life gives you lemons, make a ricotta lemon tart?

April has really not been my month, and it has only gotten worse. One of my tires was slashed this week, and the worse part? I had gotten four new tires on Saturday, so the slashed tire was only 3 days old. April hates me.


What does this have to do with food? Well, during the two hours I spent waiting at the Honda dealership to get a new tire, I got the chance to read the latest issue of Food & Wine magazine (probably the only food magazine I don't subscribe to). There was an interesting looking recipe for a lemon ricotta tort. It was unusual because it used ground almonds instead of flour, and I happen to have leftover ricotta that needed to be used up. The tart was easy to assemble but was quite a disappointment. Although the flavor was nice and lemony, I thought the texture of the tart was gritty and unappealing. If this is any indication of the caliber of this magazine's recipes, I won't be subscribing anytime soon.
