The lobster roll at Raw Bar is the Godzilla of lobster rolls. R and I stopped there for an early dinner. We sat outside, which was nice, because that meant Zelda (our beloved Cocker Spaniel) could be with us. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder, steamers and a lobster roll to share. The chowder was good, a solid 7 out of 10 and the steamers were not as flavorful as the ones as Chauncey Creek, but were still good. The kitchen thoughtful cut the lobster roll in half for us. This thing is so huge that I had to eat half of it with a fork, just to get it to a point were I could pick it up and eat it. I took 2 more bites and I was done. I couldn’t finish. I’ve never not been able to finish a lobster roll, much less half of a lobster roll! How was the roll itself? Well, the quantity was definitely it’s best attribute. The lobster in the roll was mostly shredded, with a decent amount of claw meat. This was great for me, I love the fins, but R prefers the meaty parts of the lobster. It was coated in mayo and served not on a traditional hot dog roll, but on a sub roll. I realized that this is because a hot dog roll would have been crushed under the weight of all that lobster, but it just felt wrong. Plus, the roll wasn’t toasted, another negative. At $25, it’s not cheap, but you get a lot of lobster for your money.
