We’ve been going to Il Panino for ages. After college, R used to work close to Il Panino and we would go a couple times a week for lunch. Their pizzas and calzones are great, but my favorite is the Il Panino sub. It’s a just prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, EVOO and salt and pepper on a Italian sub roll. This sandwich was first experience I had with prosciutto, back in high school, and I remember the rich, salty flavor of the ham, paired perfectly with the creamy soft mozzarella. It was a taste revelation for me. Fast forward 15 years and my culinary horizons have expanded a bit, but the first bite of the sub is still excellent and filled with pure nostalgia.
