Shhhhh! It's a secret. . .

How do you feel about secret recipes? As you can imagine, I find the whole concept pointless. It may make sense if you are a business and you don’t everyone to know your special blend of 11 herbs and spices or your secret sauce (we all know it is thousand island!) But, if it’s grandma’s meatloaf or auntie’s bundt cake recipe? Give it up! After all, food and cooking about family, friends, community and togetherness, so why keep it all to yourself? Second, it’s not all about the recipe. The El Bulli cookbook is a mammoth tome, weighing in at 6.9 pounds with 800 photographs and over 600 pages. It is complete with recipes, so does that mean I can be just like Ferran Adria? No. Not even close.

So after much cajoling and nagging I finally got my friend’s secret recipe. I can’t share the recipe with you (because then it wouldn’t be a secret anymore) and I can’t tell you what it is a recipe for (it is a much coveted recipe, she doesn’t want other people to know she gave it to me and not them). The whole thing is silly.

So, all you keepers of secret recipes out there, stop the secrecy! Post your recipe here, or email it to someone who wants it!
