Like MLK, I have a dream, except my dream involves a Viking range, a Sub-Zero fridge, a 9 foot granite island and a marble station for pastry work.
R and I are finally embarking on the “Great Renovation,” The plans are laid and the walls are coming down. On Saturday, we went to Clarke showroom, a magnificent place to look at appliances. It’s like the difference between David’s Bridal and Vera Wang (Sorry, guys, I don’t know a manly equivalent.) We met with Maureen, a kitchen consultant, and talked about how we (I) like to cook, bake and entertain. There are 12 different model kitchens, some of the working, so that you can try the different appliances out. They also have a person cooking on all the appliances, so there are samples everywhere, which makes R uber-happy.
We spent almost two hours there and picked out an array of shiny stainless steel goodness. The nice thing about Clarke is that it is a showroom, no sales, so there is no pressure to buy anything. Maureen was just there to show us around, and lead us to samples of skirt steak grill on the 48” rangetop or lemon squares, baked in the Wolf convention oven.
My current wish list is:
1. Sub-Zero 48 built in fridge
3. Wolf double wall oven.
